DIGITAL WATERCOLORS
Digital Watercolor Renderings for Architecture
Digital watercolors present a building the way a hand-painted illustration would: soft washes, visible brushwork and warm light. They suit early design stages, when the idea and the mood matter more than exact materials, and projects where a photorealistic image would feel too finished. Since 2002, ArchiBIM has created architectural illustrations for clients across the Washington, DC Metro area and nationwide.
When watercolors work best
- Early concepts and competitions: communicate the idea without committing to every finish.
- Community and approval meetings: an inviting image that is easy for non-designers to read.
- Marketing and branding: brochures, signage, websites and print pieces with a distinctive, crafted look.
- Traditional and historic settings: a style that sits naturally next to period architecture.
How it works
We build a 3D model from your drawings, set up the views with you, then paint over them digitally. That keeps proportions and perspective accurate while the finished image keeps the loose, hand-made character of watercolor.
Frequently asked questions
Can I get the same view as a watercolor and a photorealistic rendering?
Yes. Both start from the same 3D model, so you can order one or both. See our exterior renderings.
Are watercolors faster than photorealistic renderings?
Usually, because exact materials and fine details don’t need to be resolved.
